Drotlor Plant was founded in 1972 by its current owner Brendon O`Reilly.
From its humble beginnings when Brendon`s only items of plant were a Drott and Lorry (hence the name) the company has flourished into one of the Midlands largest in operated heavy plant.
Its current plant holding comprises both of Volvo A25 and A35 articulated dump trucks, Caterpillar D6 standard and L.G.P dozers, D8 and D9 dozers/rippers, Caterpillar Graders, a variety of compaction equipment , water bowsers, mobile fuel bowsers and bunded static fuel bowsers.
With such an extensive fleet of equipment, Drotlor Plant has been able to undertake all aspects of earth moving which includes ;
Drotlor Plant services are provided from its purpose built offices and plant yard in Tamworth, Staffordshire.
This is undoubtably Drotlor Plants` core business activity.
Working closely with both aggregate suppliers and brick manufacturers the work entails the excavation and storage of topsoils, subsoils, overburden mineral and clays in accordance with Defra guidelines.
To enable the quarry operators excavation activities to be cost effective, We generally carry them out in conjunction with their restoration programmes.
Working jointly with the companies Landscape Architects and the Environment Agency we have restored previous mineral workings to arable lant, nature reserves, a water sports centre and football pitches for a Premier division club.
As a result our proven experience in winning, stockpiling and blending clays, we now undertake long term contracts with major brick manufacturers.
Landfill Construction Services
Drotlor Plant carried out the earthworks and leachate drainage works for the first ever landfill site to commercially generate electricity from the methane gas produced by biodegradation of waste. At the time the project was thought to be so innovative it was featured on `Tomorrows World`
Since then Drotlor Plant has carried out numerous contracts for the coumtrys leading waste management companies. The work has been the construction of landfill cells, including the provision of the mineral liner from site won materials and `engineered` to achieve the requirements of the specification together with the installation of leachate drains.
In addition We have also carried out the capping operation of landfill sites with both site won and imported materials including the laying of geosynthetic clay liner.
Highway Construction Works
Drotlor Plant from the early eighties has been employed by several major civil engineering contractors to carry out and complete a variety oh highway schemes in the Midlands area.
Apart from carrying out the general cut / fill and resoiling operations we have also undertook the laying of both the capping layer and the sub-base.
